Life Skills FORE the Youth of Colorado Springs was formed in mid-2012 as a Colorado non-profit corporation operating as a tax-exempt entity under Internal Revenue Code 501-3C for the sole purpose of bringing a first-class chapter of The First Tee to Colorado Springs and surrounding communities. In April of 2013, the Chapter operating under the name of The First Tee of Pikes Peak was officially added to The First Tee network of approximately 200 chapters across the country and four chapters in Colorado (Denver, Green Valley Ranch, Pueblo and Vail/Eagle). The First Tee of Pikes Peak plans to offer year-round programming of Life and Golf Skills to thousands of participants from ages 5-18.
During May-October, the Chapter will offer programming at Valley Hi Golf Course. This historically rich facility just three miles southeast of downtown Colorado Springs has 18 holes, large driving range, short game practice area and two practice putting greens. Participants will enjoy using the practice facility at Valley Hi as well as playing rounds of golf at deep discounted prices.
Additionally, the Chapter plans to open an indoor training facility to provide young people the opportunity to continue to participate in weekly golf and character building lessons during the months that it is not conducive to offer programming outdoors. In October, a 15,000 square foot facility located on the East side of Colorado Springs in the Citadel Crossing Shopping Center that is within two miles of Valley Hi Golf Course will open to The First Tee of Pikes Peak participants as well as the general public during times when The First Tee programming is not being conducted. This state-of-the-art facility will house a micro driving range with seven hitting stations, two golf simulators, large putting green and a short game area.
Young people between the ages of 5-18 can join The First Tee of Pikes Peak by registering for a multiclass program session and paying an annual fee of $15. Program fees are $60 per multiclass session for Rookies (ages 5-9) and $70 per multiclass session for Juniors (ages 10-18).
